TEGMA is aware of environmental issues and increasingly aware that exercise their activities in a sustainable way – the environmental, financial and social aspects – is a guarantee not only of its perpetuation in the market but also creating a more responsible society.
TEGMA seeks to optimize its operations in order to produce more with less, using fewer natural resources and energy and thereby reducing waste and the costs of operation as well as its environmental impact. Optimization of routes and trips, increasing the occupancy of vehicles, use of assets with higher load capacity – can carry more in fewer trips – TEGMA are some initiatives in relation to the environmental quality of their operations.
In addition, the company values a more sustainable internal operation, with solutions that aim to reduce the use of resources and preserve the environment.
In line with these initiatives, TEGMA has ISO 9001 certificates, which attests to the quality standard processes, services and products; ISO 14001, focused on environmental management and SASSMAQ (Health Assessment System, Safety, Environment and Quality), directed the logistics of the chemical industry chain.
CHECK SOME PROJECTS OF TEGMA ORIENTED TO SUSTAINABILITY:
- Atmospheric emissions
- Tegma controls the emission of black smoke from its own and third party stork carts in the service of Tegma since 2008. We have achieved a significant result, averaging 80% below the maximum limit established by CONAMA Resolution 418/09.
In mid-2017 Tegma started a project aimed at reducing atmospheric emissions in the national distribution of 0KM vehicles. With this initiative we aim to reduce approximately 10% of greenhouse gas emissions.
- Use of new technology in lighting and reduction of waste generation
We reduced in the year 2017, 80% in the generation of residue from burned lamps containing mercury. This result is due to the gradual replacement of the lighting using fluorescent lamps, by led lamps. This technology provides an average energy savings of 70% compared to fluorescent lamps, as well as having a service life of 50,000 hours versus 16,000 hours of fluorescent lamps.
- PEV – Point of Voluntary Delivery of vegetable oil maintained by TEGMA
In the city of São Bernardo do Campo we have 03 PEV’s at Tegma and in a municipal school in the region. This is a partnership with Instituto Triângulo that uses the oil collected as raw material for biodiesel production. From the beginning of the implementation of the voluntary delivery points, 8.5 tons of oil were collected.
- Use of new technology in vehicle washing 0 km
The system of washing vehicles using water vapor was implemented in the Araquari/SC branch, reducing the use of water by 96%.
- Replacement of technology in silo carts wash
We started in 2018 the process of testing and adjustments of the vaporization system in the cart wash of the Cubatão/SP subsidiary.
– Up to 90% savings in water consumption (conventional washing consumes an average of 150 m³/month)
– Average reduction of 85% in effluent generation (in 2017, 1,581.68 m³ was generated).
- Conversion of exotic to native vegetation
TEGMA paralyzed the project of converting exotic vegetation into native vegetation at the Tegma Corporate Center units and its branch office at Rua Miro Vetorazzo, located in the city of São Bernardo do Campo in São Paulo.
In all, 1,452 exotic specimens were replaced by 2,215 natives, and the Municipal Fund for Environmental Recovery of São Bernardo was paid the amount of R$ 34,500.00.

TEGMA ended the year 2017 with 98.74% of compliance with controlled environmental legal requirements.

HEALTH AND SECURITY
TEGMA is concerned with the quality of life and safety of its employees and service providers. The company maintains Occupational Health and Safety Engineering (EST) teams in search of effective solutions to minimize risks, prevent accidents and continually improve processes.
Among the strategies adopted to improve the work environment are the analysis of occupational risks, the monitoring of environmental standards and the mapping of workplace risks, among other actions. With the use of specific software, TEGMA monitors and performs preventive and corrective security work.
TEGMA implements projects aimed at corporate and operational employees. These include:
- Safety Dialogues (daily chat about safety at work);
- Recognition of work risks (identification and correction of situations that can cause accidents);
- Ergonomics (sessions of labor gymnastics and postural orientation);
- SIPAT – Internal Week of Prevention of Work Accidents, with lectures and training on safety and quality of life.
Drivers are a sensitive and important link of operations. In order to increase the awareness of these professionals and the quality of the services offered to their customers, in 2008 TEGMA created a project exclusively aimed at drivers: the Forte Program. It is a channel of relationship between the company and the transporters that offers actions focused on quality of life and safety, service, communication, infrastructure and development.
One of the highlights of the project is the Educational Cycle, whereby all the drivers of the company participate in lectures, plays, trainings and integrations, addressing topics such as defensive driving, safety in loading and unloading operations, performance, traffic crimes, excessive speed, sleep disorders, obesity, stress, ergonomics, reduction of malfunctions, behavior in traffic, impacts of accidents on society, dry law, traffic regulations and customer service. With the support of these actions, it was possible to reduce considerably the number of accidents in TEGMA operations.
In addition to raising awareness, the company also invests in the training of these professionals, so that they can perform their duties with quality and safety. In 2013, TEGMA also implemented, through Forte, a new integration program for drivers. Lasting 16 hours, the project guides the transporter and helps him to improve his performance indicators, and evaluates him according to the company’s objectives.
The training is divided into practical and theoretical classes. The practical part is focused on the presentation of the operation of the Loading area of TEGMA and the expected conduct at the wheel. Theoretical content includes information about the company’s operations: instructions on the use of the tracker, running of operations, vehicle inspection, operational safety, use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and procedures in case of breakdowns, among others.
TEGMA has as one of its business commitments the collaboration for the socioeconomic and environmental development of the communities in which it is inserted, supporting several initiatives, especially those related to education, culture, health, sports and the environment.
The company acts by promoting actions aimed at promoting social well-being and improving the quality of life of society, with a focus on children and young people.
Since 2002, TEGMA has donated to 250 entities, carried out social projects to 170 schools in initiatives involving more than 200,000 students and teachers of the public school system.
Among the various projects that the company supports, one of the highlights is the Escola & Vida Program, through which it carries out actions in municipal primary and secondary schools, non-governmental entities and libraries.
Realized since 2007 with the support of the Rouanet Law, the program promotes the distribution of books and presentations of theatrical shows aimed at stimulating the cultural development of children, promoting in a fun and educational way values such as friendship, diversity and preservation of the environment.
The Escola & Vida Program has passed through 58 schools and institutions, made about 90 theatrical presentations and distributed more than 26 thousand books. Between 2007 and 2009, special actions were taken in 11 municipal schools in São Bernardo do Campo (SP), which granted TEGMA the honor of “Child Friendly Company” by 3S Projetos and Editora Komedi.
Another initiative supported by TEGMA is the Rede Escolaí Program, carried out by FOCO, which encourages the articulation of the educational community so that it can create, in a collaborative way, solutions to its challenges. Carried out as a gymkhana, the Program proposes a set of activities carried out inside and outside the school, with the purpose of giving subsidy for the communities to strengthen themselves and start acting for the improvement of education. In 2015, the program encompassed 49 schools, involving 41,979 students, family members and volunteers, and 2,390 teachers, 23 of them in Espírito Santo and 26 in the State of São Paulo.
